Also known as yogi sleep, is a ancient practice of deep relaxation and meditation found to reduce tension and anxiety. During Yoga Nidra our body is comfortably resting as the mind enters a deep lucid sleep-like state. Yoga Nidra has been used to help solders from war to cope with PTSD.
Quiet stillness is a good description for this class where our bodies rest supported by blankets, bolsters and other props with the goal to relax your nervous system for deep rest and relaxation. This style of yoga heals the effects of chronic stress.
"Not all about sitting and much about living" is the philosophy behind this class. This program is designed for people who would like to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle that is appropriate for their age and fitness level. It consists of modified yoga postures done either seating on a chair or standing using the chair as a prop. Chair yoga helps improve the function, mobility, and range of motion of the spine and other joints in the body.
Some of the exercises stretch and release tension in tight areas such as the shoulders, neck, chest, hips, and lower back, other exercises work to gently strengthen the shoulders, upper back, thighs, and abdominal muscles.
